It may be some type of doubling but probably just a worn die.

Possibly, idk,I'm terrible at identifying a DDO,I've literally found 1 worth mentioning in all my searches

In the 34 years I have been collecting mint errors and varieties the only time I really searched for a Doubled Die was in the late 1990's when the 1995 Doubled Die craze occured. Other than that I try to eyeball the 1955, 1969 and the 1972 major DDO's. Eveything else is just a waste of time IMHO

    Not a DDO.
I only search for a few big ones when it comes to Doubled Dies: 71, 72, 83, 84, 95. Those are the only ones worth searching IMO. Obviously 55 and 69 too but those are few and far between so I don't really count them.

I need to add.. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from searching for Doubled Die varieties. They are out there.. But please educate yourselves in the differences between Mechanical Doubling, Die Deterioration Doubling and true Doubled Dies. It will save you and us a lot of time!

Ofc,there in your pocket change right now,in BU condition. And on etsy. I've done nothing but study the differences since I started and still flub it up

I hope you are joking! Etsy.com is the worst place to learn about anything. Everything posted there is pure garbage!

Not sure how long you have been searching but these things are not easy to find. I've managed to find ~20-30 different examples in the 7ish years I've searched. I just finished my 629th box on Sunday and I've probably searched 100-150 bags. We are talking close to $25,000 searched in just cents! 2,500,000 cents and I've only found 20-30 examples. Just shows how rare these things truly are.

Absolutely, def hard to find,if it were easy they wouldnt be worth anything. True errors like cuds,lamination,ect..seem to be worth more than most DDs anyways, even in the worst of shape. I'll stick to that, haha

Part of the problem is that the single squeeze method really twists the term "Doubled die" as they can not truly be one as the dies are only hubbed once, not twice or more as done before the 1995 era. The single squeeze "doubled die " is in my minority opinion is just an extension of mechanical doubling. But if they so labeled, would any one collect or pay money over face for them? But follow the money, what would the commercial slabbing and grading companies do if there were no more DD.

So yes, it is hard to learn as its like learning the different species of unicorns when unicorns are imaginary, :cat: IMO, Jim

There are others of us who also share your opinion of single squeeze doubled dies.
