I am a coin dealer in Hampton, GA and a older woman showed me a dime she got in change. I don't remember the reverse but on the obverse around Roosevelt's face the legend was completely flat. Basically all you could see was his face and a few remnants of LIBERTY. I wish I got a picture but I saw the coin before I joined any forums. Maybe it is a type of brockage, I don't know but, if anyone has seen a dime or any coin similar I would like to know. I may be away for a few days so if I dont answer back soon dont get discourage.

Sounds more like a heavily greased die.

Could be a generic capped die strike. Impossible to say for sure without a photo.
