Hello all, as I stated in introductions, I inherited a coin collection. Please help me identify them as I am a noob. Thanks. Ready? Here we go.
1. I don't Know. 2. A telephone Token for a foreign payphone 3. A Franklin Half Dollar 90% silver 4.A Buffalo Nickel 5. A 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar 90% silver
They are 90% silver mercury dimes. Cant see mint marks and dates to tell if anything is "special" about them. So far I see nothing in what you've shown that stands out as really valuable. But the 90% silvers are collectable. all Dimes, quarters, Halfs and Dollar coins made 1964 and before are 90% silver, so they all have value above face value. IE each mercury dime has a silver melt value of about $1.22 each (changes daily with the price of silver) But right now you can figure a 90% silver coin is worth about 12 x face value (just to give you an idea.) Some can have more value to collectors, but then you get into Mint Marks, rarity and condition grades.
A war cent. A decent looking fifty-seven year old nickel and a bullion silver from Englehard. That is interesting to me as I know Englehard as a bullion bar producer. I didn’t know they made decorative rounds.
The telephone token above (Gettone Telefonico) is from Italy. The code 7509 indicates it was produced in September 1975.
Welcome to CoinTalk . . . but you could have easily identified these (mostly) common coins yourself with a few minutes of online searching. Much of the information you'd need is on the coins themselves. When you see things like "United States of America" and "One Dollar", "Half Dollar", "One Dime" and "One Cent", that pretty much narrows down the possibilities.
