Can anyone please identify this coin for me? Possibly give me some info on its history?

I don't have the time to search right now but I suspect this is French or Spanish from perhaps the 1700s. I know that the real knowledgeable members will be able to give you a definitive answer.

If you could give us the diameter in millimeters and the weight if you have a scale that measures in grams, that would help us (and you) a lot.

What you have here is a French 2 Sol coin. These coins were produced from 1791 to 1793 and bore the portrait of Louis XVI.

Any idea if it would be worth anything?

It's in really tough shape. Let's see what they say, but I wouldn't quit your day job.

Considering you can't make out a date on this coin it probably would be relegated to the bulk foreign coin box. Circulated specimens of these coins are quite common and are worth around $3 according to the Krause World Coin Price Guide.
