This is the part of the story that rubs me the most. Yes, CB isn't a rookie, but he IS a teenager. And all of us who have sailed those treacherous waters know that even bright, savvy teens sometimes make bewildering decisions (I sure did!). Given their working relationship, the dealer should have either advised him to spend his $70 on something else, or sold him this coin at a deep discount reflecting its true market value. That would've been the right thing to do. Instead, he took advantage of the opportunity to unload a problem coin at a nice profit.
Tell ya what, @CoinBlazer , PM me your mailing info and I'll send you the problem 1830 CBH pictured below. This one has that circam look and it should make up for the $15 you're out from this other 1830 deal.
This is his dream job. Walk softly while you gain experience. @CoinBlazer. Look at coins carefully. Ask questions. Ask questions and kick the tires
Great and smart answer. Would give you a leg up. And show that you expect your full value for your money. @CoinBlazer
@CoinBlazer. Next time he hands you a coin. Ask if he knows of this coins history. The cats out of the bag cuz of his last gift. Ask if there's any reason you might have to return this. Then shake his hand. A hand shake is a sure thing if he's a honest person.
