Glad to have found this forum as I acquired many coins I will have questions about. This one is the last one for today. I know these wheat pennies are typically common but the details on this one make me think this one could be worth more than the common ones. Can anyone give an idea about the value of this or should I have it graded? 1953 Shift 3, Double I in "Liberty", and round T and double S in "Trust"
1953 and 1955 were notorious for die deterioration doubling. They are referred to as the "Poorman's Doubled Die", but are not errors.
Chris is correct. Please do not spend that kind of money on this. It adds no value to the coin because of these imperfections and is only worth what a common wheat cent goes for, maybe 3-4 cents. It is a neat find and a keeper if you want.
