1953-D RPM

I can't seem to find this one with this underlying mark as due West as it is.

No. None of the polish lines, for sure.

 

Could be an EDS?

 

It could be. I get what you're driving at, it wouldn't have the die scratches, then, which are the die markers. But I have to say, the orientation of that mint mark on the die looks a little off from 001, as well.

If you click on the FS-501 There's a die scratch from the head to the letter R.
In your photo there appears to be a faint line there.

 

Yeah, I just did. The closest is 001. The rest aren't even in the running. The thing about 001 is those marks are a little tilted in relationship to one another. I see it in the coppercoins link @furryfrog02 gave me, too. My marks line up perfectly against one another. That and as I said the orientation of the marks on the die looks a little off from 001. I don't feel confident it's 001, now, I have to say.

 

Maybe you discovered a new one. That would be cool.

 

Except I never discovered anything in my life, so the odds are against me.

 

I do not believe it is #1 either. Eddie , does it look in hand, like the apparent "D " on the bottom sticks out both in front and back? That's how it appears to me, and that isn't possible to my knowledge. Maybe another photo of same area with much lower amount of light if possible? Jim

 

I see. It could be a striking casualty. A convincing RPM at first glance, but strike-doubling, nonetheless.

Jim, these are old photos taken from a camera so old you can't even send texts or make phone calls on it. I realize that's hard for some of the younger folks here to believe, but yes, there actually were cameras like that in those old days, lol.

I have an iPhoneX, now, but my coin pictures always come out lousy, so I gave up on using it on coins. I know I'm doing something wrong. If I can figure out what, by all means, I'll get those better pictures here.

 

The nice thing is it will still be that way 10 years from now. I am sure most have a box of ?? cents waiting for better equipment or knowledge, even though our time in limited Jim
