Hi all, A few months ago I created a thread about an investment company that is located in my building. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/super-mario-foreign-coin-collection.341117/ They were collecting foreign (non US) coins in an old plant pot. I recently asked if they had received any new coins since they allowed me to go through all of the first batch. The office manager pointed to a table near her and told me to take a look at a small art project she was doing with the coins. This is what she made which I though was very interesting.
Same thing I told her. She said it is temporary until she figures out how to put them on a better background and actually frame the symbols.
Very nice idea. And as for the tape, well, it's art. Could be worse: A few days ago I read about an installation that is being set up in Zurich: Meier & Franz (a team of two artists) made a sculpture depicting parts of the Trevi Fountain (Rome), using 10 ct coins with a total value of more than €8,000. Yes, they actually bought the coins from Caritas (which gets the coins that tourists throw into that fountain), and then melted them for their sculpture. The idea was to make a sculpture from money that people throw away in order to be happy, hehe. In this case however the coins are still "intact". Hope they are not really valuable pieces ... Those are the symbols for Yen, Pounds, Dollars, and Euros, correct? Very well done. Meow is impressed something like that could be made out of coins.
So Meow took a look at your older thread and was missing what the deal was with the pot. But after a few more seconds realized it refers to the video game with the plumber and coins in pots to head bash. Very creative! Is the Office Manager a Cat too? Only a Cat could be so cool and creative!
Right. The coins that the four symbols consist of, however, are ... from all kinds of countries. Definitely a better location that some old pot! Christian
Good thing those all look like spendable (minus the pre-Euro) coins, or that tape would have ruined any collectible value.
I believe the office manager for that company where it is hung used double sided tape for each coin. By the way it's an investment company called Market Factory.
