Hey all, here are two more new Lincoln's of mine. I was at the dealers just browsing, and I couldn't pass these up. Think I did okay, we'll see here. All comments and opinions are welcome! You can also guess the grades of them, and how much I paid. Here they are, lmk what you think: Phoenix
Lol, probably is. They are both nice coins, the 15-D has some nicks in it, but I don't think they would classify as damage? I'm not sure, that hatchet mark bugs me, lol, but oh well. But all in all I think I got a good price for the both of them. Keep the comments comin'. Phoenix
XF-45 Nice, but the AU 15-D has been in a knife fight ( I'd hate to see the other guy ) Sounds like you were able to get out to a dealer, Phoenix..thats always a blast !!
I like that 15-. They are tougher to get than most people thing. You pic makes it look like a weak strike AU on my computer. The 15-D might make AU, but I would not call it any better than XF-40 with all the nicks.
Thanks for all the replies and opinions! Here are my opinions on the coins: The 15-P is real nice, a sweet XF IMHO, just a tad weak. Still, nice coin, no problems that I can see. The 15-D is real nice too, unfortunatly that damage puts it back a bit. It is a sweet AU IMHO, full luster, dark brown color, amazing in hand. But, like said, those probs are going to set it back a bit. But, however, I am not too sure on this, but I think it is a railroad rim error? Is that the proper term? I'll try to get pics of the rim, but something is going on there. All in all, I paid $16 a piece for them, total came to $32. :kewl: Thanks for all the comments so far! Phoenix
I like the 1915. It's a nice chocolate brown. No idea on grade as I'm not a Lincoln man, but I like it. The second..... Hmmmm... with hack marks and rim damage like that, I would almost classify it as a "filler". I may not know anything about Lincolns, but there is WAY too much chatter going on all over the place for it to get a decent grade IMO. I guess I don't get the people saying it's XF or AU. If that's the case, I've got a whole truckload of "problem" Walkers that are suddenly AU!!!! On the other hand, it's almost 100 years old. AND it is in pretty much better shape than every single wheatie I own - for whatever that's worth!!!!!
I think it shows wear consistant with an AU coin, but it would net way below that, it would not slab with that amount of damage either
