1867 shield nickel (with rays) proof(?) Heavily damaged

    If its a 1867 with rays Proof, it might still have a good bit of value, considering under 60 are estimated to exist?

    I don't know if you have noticed yet but your 1867 has 2 holes in it. That is considered damage o_O

    Might of been done to make it a spinning type of toy with the use of a string. I think it was called a whizzer?

    What characteristics do you see that would indicate the damaged coin was originally a proof and not a business strike?
