Ok everyone need some help again i did some looking and i think these are from the Faroe Islands or Denmark not sure on which one anyone know for sure? Thanks for all the help much appricted.
Island = Iceland Norge =- Norway i have a large Icelandic coin collection and have started in on the Danish and Norwegian coins that were in use in Iceland before using it's own coinage in 1926. i'm getting quite the history lesson tracing the coinage used in Iceland over the past 500 years. i haven't dug into the paper money yet, but at some point i'm sure that will interest me as well. feel free to ask any questions you have about the Icelandic coins. -steve
ok i have a good question for you then i have three of these: the writing reads: "CARL XVI GUSTAF SVERIGE" dated 1977, 1978,1979 i can find a refence to the coin but the picture on the reverse is different have any ideas?
Hmm, that is the Swedish 1 krona coin issued between 1976 and 2000. (In 1982 they changed the composition a little but not the "look".) Sure, the previous and the current versions are different ... More info from the central bank in English is here: http://www.riksbank.com/templates/Page.aspx?id=10593 Christian
It is a 1 krona from Sweden, the both sides of the coin look normal for that issue (which ran 1976-1981).
