We see all manner of interesting damaged coins here on CT. Damage that changes mint marks and dates. Damage that changes a device..... Thought it may be fun to post your interesting damaged coin. This one is mine. The damage on the date makes it appear to be 1903, a very unlikely date for a worn Morgan. Post your damaged coin that made you do a double take when you saw it.
If only coin had a chip in them , that recorded their journey throughout their lives while being traded , used for currency , and so forth. There would be some very interesting stories , and we would know where every little mark come from. Your thread all of a sudden had me thinking of a coins life until someone hoards it . I think there would be some that would get down graded for where they were part of the time. Interesting thread. Dillan
Randy: I am not quite sure if it was a acid or heat or if it was put into some sort of metal working tool. I got this dime back in change last week. The groove in the edge is what caught my attention first. In person you can see what appears the be the reading in the groove. Interesting damage I thought. Someone with too much time on their hands.
