Don’t know if it’s real passes the magnet weighs 3.11 g no tooling marks for the empty spaces of the three are? See picture
My bad, Paddy. Yep, it’s beat to hell. Took it to 3 places. 1-my friend, owns a shop, I trust him, he says he’s not certain it’s been altered. 2-local shop, looked at it for ten seconds says no but $30 to have NGC look at it “ may be worth it” 3- the ANA Museum, looked at it for several minutes, guy only said “the 4 looks short”. Might be worth $$ to have it checked out.
It's our duty to help and educate those who aren't knowledgeable in error and variety attribution.. They need us .. Even if they disregard everything we tell them I know deep inside they are thinking "maybe they are right"
REALLY? Furyfrog? The 3 shows ZERO chance of I being an altered 7. AND EXCUSE THE CRAP OUT OF ME FOR TAKING UP YOUR VALUABLE TIME! JERK! Thnx for the response, paddy
I’m aware it’s a terrible pic, the best I could do. Through a loop with lots of light I can guerantee(sic) it’s not a 7. I get the top is flat but why no “tool” marks or scrapes in what would be the open areas of the 3? And no I’m not complaining it or wishing it into a real 1943, I was only looking for some input.
Though crazier things have happened, I am very doubtful. If you want to spend the money and get it sent out, thats on you. It costs a bit more then 30$ to get NGC or PCGS (The top 2 Grading services) to check it out. Goodluck
ANACS is reputable. Cheaper then PCGS and NGC but if your looking for the BEST id go with NGC/PCGS. Its gonna cost you though. Though I do not recommend doing this, simply because I have low hopes your coin is not altered.
Altered. Usually a 48 but if the gentlemen says 47 I trust his opinion and I will look closer. Yes he is correct. The top 3rd you can see it's a 7. And then the rest of the "3" has been scratched out, or added somehow. (Tooling)
Roger that! Guess Ill just hang on to it. Feasible to put a picture book of ALL the fakes that have been found/reported? Like a database of some sort.
