    Third, here's a 1926 $2.5 Sesquicentennial (did I spell that right? ;-)

GTG using the poll and tell us why you selected a specific grade.
@physics-fan3.14 let me know if you're happy with the GTGs and if they qualify for your survey.

    Have fun!

You did spell that correctly. That would be a difficult word to spell for a person whose first language is English. Well done!

I am not well schooled on this one. I voted MS62. I do not see any wear. However I believe it is a weak strike.

I was on the fence between MS-63 and AU-58. These are devilishly difficult to grade from photos, because they suffer frequently from weak strike. In the end, I chose MS-63, limited primarily by weakness of strike. It looks to me like most of the "marks" on the photo are from a scuffed slab.

Pics aren't great, but I see some light wear. AU58.

I see disturbances in the luster and color change on the high points indicative of wear. AU-58

That’s correct, it’s on the slab.

MS62 seems right. I agree about the weak strike- it's especially visible on the "2 1/2".

    62

...I've owned a few of these (from AU-MS) and they can be difficult to decipher (some of my AUs looked nicer than some on the MS examples).

    I think it's a slider that slid into a 62 holder

Just trying to help and not telling you what to do. IMO I think you'd get more replies and it would help some Coin Talk members if you continued posting #2 and #3 on your original post GTG challenge #1. I delete a thread after I read it so did not even see the answer to GTG challenge #1. To see the answer I'd have to go through your posts to find it. As far as I know your thread #2 didn't make it to this forums page. It's probably just on the "US Coins forum". I really don't have that much time to go looking through all the forums, just this one which includes posts from various forums. (Your answer to post #1 did not make it to this forum but if I go to the "US Coins Forum" it will most likely be there). Again, please don't think I'm trying to tell you what to do. Peace :)
edit. We have some threads that have been running for quite a while because people posted under the title of the first post.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I gotta say, these are incredibly difficult to grade. The super low relief makes all of the details look soft. I'm at 64 on this one, because I don't really see many large marks.

And yes, I'm tracking all of the GTGs. I'm planning on breaking out the official ones I've posted and comparing them to all of the others, such as this one. I'm using standardized photos in the official threads (from Heritage) to act as a control.

The pictures don’t show the coin’s luster very well, it’s much better in hand. I was surprised when I received the coin.

I went a conservative 64, especially if marks are on the holder and luster is better than pics suggest, as micbraun has already indicated. Weak strike, sure, but nothing distracting markwise. Could even be 65.

    So, what did these grade?

Yeah, I usually let GTGs run for 2 or 3 days. After that, people lose interest.
