Does not look too bad a price at this moment for this coin, but historically for some recent auctions, you are near the top of what this particular year / mint / no special designation seems to have gone for. Not to say this may be undervalued at this time, but perhaps also is it overvalued? I cannot say. I generally don't 'do' Morgans. But if it were me and not familiar with the market and coin issue I would not go so far as to up the current bid too much. My opinion is if you want a 1888 MS65 then waiting to get one at this price or lower seems maybe doable.

Thanks Meow! I think the nearly blast white of the coin is what first attracted me to it. Kinda like a hummingbird to a bright colored flower.
That's the one thing about collecting Morgans... there's always another one coming along.

I'm not a fan of the picture angle that totally obscures the cheek from being able to be seen, hard to gauge if it's a low 65 or a high 65, or middle of the grade. Always makes me wonder if the seller is using the glare to their advantage.

It's ebay and a day + left on the auction, so don't be surprised when it gets bid up in the last 5 minutes if you want it.

I too question that glare, but I believe that flea-bay was a pretty good return policy. As for those last minute bidders... there's a name for those people, probably different that what I usually call them though. :blackalien::jimlad::yack: (sniping)

Looks like a nice one. I personally wouldn't bid any higher than what it's currently at ($146).

Unless it's an absolute steal, I personally wouldn't even bid on this. If I were to bid, I'd at least check the certification. I cannot stand sellers that have thousands of sales but take such terrible photos. A trick I recommend to each of you: on your smart phones download the photos of the coins from eBay, and then go into your photos and have your camera auto correct the image. If yours can't auto correct, just slide the lighting up and down and look at how spots on the coin appear and disappear. Photography is a great way to showcase or hide a coin's condition.

One of the first things I did was check the cert number... which checks out. As for the whole smart phone camera, I've never tried that. Us old.....er gentleman ain't all that savvy with our smart phones. I thought I was pretty hot stuff when I downloaded apps from PCGS photograde and value guide. I guess you can teach an old dawg new tricks. lol
