Submitted year one of the 6 coin set "treasure coins of Mexico". They came back in double thick holders which was unexpected, but worse one coin had broken free of it's internal moorings making it a modern rattler. Incredibly annoying. Didn't know of this holder type, and unsure why it was used vice a standard holder. Coins aren't that thick. They also don't have an official box for these either - came back in a standard box offset to fit. With 24 in the series these will take a ton of real estate. As the icing on the cake, it was the only MS70 grade. Anyone else experience this with the double thick holders? Does anyone know for sure if NGC would place these in regular holders? Thanks for any replies!
Will try for photos but I'm chair bound with a broken leg right now. For now, here's my coin: https://www.pcgs.com/cert/36374021 Top pop! Nevermind that mine was the only one submitted...
Sorry about the break. Looks painful, especially seeing the swollen foot. Can't help but ask, but how'd it happen? Get well soon. Cal
Thanks. It was motorcycle versus car. Guess which one I was on. I was in the right, which really doesn't help much now. At least the leg saved the bike, which the neighbor rode home from the accident scene. It's for sale...
Motorcycles can be fun, but I've only driven them off-road long ago. Never liked the odds of me and a bike against 3000 lbs of car. Rest-up, surf the net, and read a coin book or two. Cal
If the holders are the same size as a regular holder just thicker then any of the curved commemorative boxes should do the trick. The bulk submissions for the baseball and the moon landing commemoratives were shipped in boxes with larger openings and less coins per box.
