    Acetone is your friend.

Uh-oh, it does look nice now, but I am not sure what might happen in the long run. I'll hope for the best for you. :thumb: Still, now, it looks like you did a good job! :thumb:

Frankie cleaned up nicely. I would use pure acetone only. There may be other chemicals in nail polish remover that may show up later.

I would have let it sit in acetone for a few minutes and then rinsed it. Using a Q-tip on it risks scratching the coin.

Again, it looks nice. But I am surprised though that the ALARM wasn't raised (by some learned members) because of the abrasive qualities and results the use of a Q-Tip might impart upon the coins surface, LOL...

OOPS, didn't see Soda Ants reply. He beat me to it... :)

    Whole-heartedly agree !
I've left coins (silver and copper) in PURE Acetone for weeks.

Im just thinking why. Yes it looks better, but acetone ALONE would have done the job with out a a chance of long term change to the coins color and i hope you didnt rub with the Q-tip. Nail polish remover is REALLY BAD STUFF.

We aren't talking about an 1895 $ here.
