1948 Perth mint penny how much

What is a proof coin and is this one? How can you tell? And would this penny be worth anything other than face value thanks!

Ya, it probably worth face value. Possibly a couple Lenny's over face value, not too many Lenny's over though.

 

Your Perth 1948 penny is much rarer than the Sydney penny of the same date.
Sydney = 26,625,600 penny coins, Perth = 1,533,600
