I like it but I agree with @Mat. The hair doesn't seem to have the same wear as the rest of the coin which makes me think it was possibly tooled.
Hairdressed by a 21st century coiffeur. A pity. Wait for an original coin, you will find a better one.
I think it's a nice looking example. But I have a question for those who think it may have had the hair tooled. Why tool just the hair? Not the beard, the lettering, etc?
If you compare the beards on those two, you see they are engraved quite differently. I think the beard on the OP is tooled as well as the hair. Both are well done. It could be much worse. However, the "other one" raises no such red flags.
I know when I was in Spain it made a very big difference in the value of a Sestertius if it did not have its original Patina is it still that way?
I see probable authentic reddish black deposits at the very back of Hadrian's head (OP). I wonder why they, too, were not "tooled." It would be so easy. Is the seller a totally reliable source? What does he/ she say about it? Is it returnable for a full refund? You could send it to the bright guys at NGC and get their opinion. It would be worth it, considering the probable price of the coin.
TY. Sometimes I just don't understand. If I were to tool a coin, I'd think I would tool more than just the hair.
