Hello everyone, a friend of mine told me about coins that are sold on this site Etsy. My question for you...How is it possible that someone would ask $2,300.00 for a 1943 P wartime nickel? Is this being realistic? The other coins that are for sale to me are crazy or is it possible someone would buy these coins at this price? If this is true I have many of these coins I could make some serious cash. Just your opinions about this site. Thank you
Etsy was never intended to deal with certain categories of items. Their page title says: "If it’s handcrafted, vintage, custom, or unique, it’s on Etsy." Coins are not intended to be in that group. People put coins on there because: -- the sellers don't know better -- the buyers don't know better. And I sometimes wonder about coins on Amazon.
Oh dear heavens. Etsy is frequently the subject of unflattering humor here. No, those prices aren’t simply unrealistic. They are criminal!
These people are not intending to sell coins. They are intending to sell "hope" to unknowledgeable people who have watched YouTube videos & believe the rest of us are idiots for not having found all these "rare & valuable" coins. What's that saying...there's a sucker born every minute!
No one who knows anything about coins would pay those Etsy prices. And no one with a grain of personal integrity would attempt to con the uninitiated in such a fashion.
I've never seen a good coin at a good price on Etsy. Just avoid that place. There are some reputable sellers on Amazon, but you have to wade through a lot of crap to find them. And they're usually on the high end of the price range.
There's an exonumia dealer that sells on Etsy, exocoin that I purchased a military trade token from. His military tokens I consider fairly priced. I cannot speak to his other items, I don't know that market.
