1) Your "Thumbnail" of the reverse is too small to see anything. You should post it as a "Full Image". 2) You do realize that a DDR (Doubled Die Reverse) is not the same as a "Speared Bison", don't you? 3) Where have you checked for errors & varieties? Variety Vista? Wexler's? Chris
Post mint damage, and the speared buffalo was not a variety in the orginial series! But one in the 2005 Jefferson Westward series. Research and reading is fundamental in this hobby.....
everywhere I cant find anything and it also looks like the 2 back legs are doubled but it took me a while to notice them.....oh and thank you for not being mean and rude
The reverse die was badly overused and the image spread towards the perimeter as the die face slowly expanded. This produces die deterioration doubling, which is just a wear process and not of value. You can see how the letters , head, tail, etc are stretched . Jim p.s. PCGS and most TPG have a list of the varieties they will attribute , so check before you send off ones that are not listed. And yes it is a scratch rather than a die problem.
nope no way im sure its not its from rim to rim and it was in my granfathers safe when he passed my grandma gave me his collection and only his good stuff was in his safe it also has both back legs doubled but thank you anyways
look at it carefully save it to your desktop and look at the die gouge it's from rim to rim and it actually looks like a freaking arrow it's amazing
then explain to me how a scratch can one go in three diffrent directions scratches tend to be made with one forward motion and the depth is minimal this is a die gouge that goes from northeast to southwest and before it gets to the bisons lower back it splits into a v shape that means the object scratching it moved back then up and down again then continued in its original patch and the same exact depth so you say its more of a scribe than a scratch.......your sugestion doesent make sense to me
not to mention that the alleged scratch doesn't go down past the thickness of the bison on the bottom nor the top by the letter A
this is a clear foreign object that was introduced during the squeezing proses doesn't have the consistency of a scratch
the top line is the rim to rim trajectory and the second line is the gouge going threw the bison if it was a scratch then its two separate scratches there is no possible way this is post mint damage this is definitely mint error soooooo
You have it in hand, so technically you have the better observation, we jut have regular photos, so best of luck in your outcome. Please post it after encapsulation. Jim
Five different members have said it's a scratch or damaged. You asked for our opinion and it was given. It was also not what you expected to hear. Now you're arguing. If you believe we are all wrong then take your nickel to your local coin shop and ask their opinion. Or send it off to a TPG and waste money paying the fees. Then you will know for sure if it's a scratch or a Mint error.
