Yep - just had this discussion at work with the ladies. So yes - your logic is feminine. :mouth: Good job!

I have the pics of the OP coin saved so when I post the new pics of my coin, I'll also post the OP coin pics so they can be compared side-by-side.

    Ribbit :)

Ps: When you get home from the coin auction, don't tell the wife how much you spent, tell her how much you saved! ;)

I'm looking forward to all the images you will be posting HandsomeToad.
I lost track of all the Ebay coins coming your way.
Are any of them what you said they were?

The very first one will be that 1916 Buffalo. There's more doubling than I saw in the Ebay pics so it will be interesting. The other two buffalos haven't made it and I'm worried about one of them but I will give it till the end of this upcoming week then I'll get mean about it. Then there's the 1943-P/no P (possible Henning nickel) but I'm not sure if I need to submit more pics or not on that one?

I know there are more, but I can't remember which ones they are? I'll have to go back and look at all my posts to figure it out. Plus, there are a lot I haven't even talked about yet. Figured I'd wait till I got a camera and then I'd post them, because their Ebay pics really sucked and I wasn't about to post them and get yelled at. :D

Sorry HandsomeToad. My last post was a bit rude.
I didn't think so at the time but after looking at it this morning, I could have picked better words. I really admire your enthusiasm for finding these cool varieties.

Nah! I didn't think it was rude. I've been promising pics for so long now I can only imagine peeps are getting antsy waiting for me to deliver.

Buying a camera suited for taking quality pictures of coins is a task in-of-itself and I didn't want to spend money on a camera that didn't perform well so I've been researching and window shopping for the right camera at the right price. I even bid on a few on Ebay but was constantly out bid so finally, I went looking for a new one instead and got it for less than the used ones I bid on and it has a higher resolution than those had.

I've now been thinking of buying a few more identical to the one I bought and re-selling them on Ebay since peeps have proven they will pay more for a camera than it's worth.

Cool. I know it's way late but I took this today.
It goes back to the OP, 51/81.

That's how a 51/81 is suppose to look. I saw another one on Ebay and it had the small 1 under a big 1 just like yours and the one I bought has protrusions off it that appear to be like this but because the pic is so bad I'll have to wait till it arrives to know for sure.

    Great coin Idhair! :thumb:

Ps: I'm with Mark. Stop teasing us and post the whole pic!

Ok, but I'm not really happy with the images I get trying to do old copper.

I'm wondering how this coin became known as a 51/81 blundered date.
I understand the 1. It was just punched upsidedown (is that one word?):)

The 5 looks like a 5 punched in the wrong place. Where does the 8 come in?
Did maybe an early die state show something more?

They punched the date in upsidedown, starting with 1 then 8 then ... oops ... fix it ... didn't fix it completely and some of the upsidedown 18 is still showing under the 51.

In your date macro shot you can see the 8 under the 5 along with the upsidedown 1 under the 1.

    Ribbit :)

Ps: I think they stopped allowing beer in the break room after this happened!

Pps: The correct way of labeling this coin would be to call it the 1851/81-upsidedown.

Ppps: I will be asking you for advice on how to photo coins when my camera gets in. You say you don't shoot copper well, but you LIE! :D

Hey Mark? I got another one just now but you ain't gotta break out the book on this one. CoinFacts actually had this one and I believe it to be the 1828 13 Stars Cohen 1 Variety (Breen 1) which can be seen here:

    http://www.coinfacts.com/half_cents/1828_half_cent_varieties/1828_half_cent_varieties.htm

    Ribbit :)

Ps: This is the scarce variety, of the 3 varieties for this year. :D

Pps: I also just picked up a 1803 DBC Sheldon 257/Breen 1756 Variety (VG-12+) but I'm gonna make you wait till it arrives to see it!

I am so pee'd right now. :headbang:

    Here's the story:

Ordered my camera on Friday and the online store said they had them in stock. Get an automatic reply that my order had been received and was being processed. This morning, I get a message to call to confirm my order and I call and stay on hold for 30 minutes before finally getting a body. Go through a sales pitch for buying additional items, which I declined, and the order was confirmed. Less than 5 minutes later I get a message saying the camera is on back order and it will be 3 to 5 weeks before they will be in. I reply to the message but it comes back undeliverable so I call and wait 10 minutes on hold and cancel my order.

I am so pee'd right now! :headbang:

Now I have to find someone else to buy it from but this time I'm asking up front if they are in stock!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ribbit :)

Ps: Can someone tell me where I posted the link about where I bought my camera, for someone else to get it too? I want to warn them about how they do business but I can't remember what thread it was I posted the link in.

I am so pee'd right now! :headbang:

    HandsomeToad,

    Consider purchasing from B&H Photo/Video:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

I have purchased LOTS of photo equipment from them and have been extremely satisfied. If you try and shop for the "lowest price" you will run into the "bait&switch" sellers as you have already.

Respectfully submitted hoping this will help...Mike

They are $130.00 more. I've found another retailer for the same price ($189.00) and they have it in stock so I've got one coming but I should already have one in my possession and I'm mad about the way the other online retailer does business. To me, it looks like they under price the camera then want you to buy their over priced accessories and when you don't buy the accessories, they conveniently run out of stock on the camera.

"Doing business" ain't the same as it used to be!
