I would definitely find a pro. It should be just a matter of grinding that spot down to the level of the adjacent coin field, smoothing it off without leaving striations, and then reshaping the denticles that were covered.
    Good Luck.
That's a great looking coin regardless.

BTW, what is that where the bird's face should be? It almost looks like the feathers have been moved aside to show the inner workings of a mechanical bird.

And what a smug expression on that lion's face !

I like those Canadian Dollars. There's so many different designs. I can sometimes get them for less than melt. I think they're a great way to accumulate silver.

Has that dollar been cleaned? It looks like it has what might be cleaning scratches. If so, I wonder why they didn't get that dark area.

Apparently I like the Canada silver dollars too, I have quite a few of them. I might go ahead and work on making a whole date set. That 1949 has not been cleaned, to my knowledge. I probably should try something simple and non damaging about removing the black marks.

It's going to be hard to find a pro but i'll do my best. This type is nice but the 1698 and 1686 ones are just amazing. As for the lion i think it's more interesting on the 1698 piece, but my favourite one, that i haven't bought yet is the 1599 Brunswick Wespentaler.

I picked this up in the recent stacks bowers auction to go with my 1808 duro. Both seige coins from the same country but one from the island (Majorca) and one from the mainland of Spain (Gerona).[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
