U.S notes I just starting to collect U.S notes. how do tell which note for which city.Iam from canada idon't know to much about U.S notes.
look at the black seal on the left side of the note in the center. it should have a letter in the middle and around the edge it says where its from.
A Boston B New York C Philadelphia D Cleveland E Richmond F Atlanta G Chicago H St Louis I Minneapolis J Kansas City K Dallas L San Francisco
The newer $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills don't have the seal with the letter in it that tells you what Federal Reserve Bank is from anymore, but you can still tell by looking at the serial number; the second letter corresponds to the individual Federal Reserve Bank (see last post for what bank corresponds to what letter). There will also be a letter & number near the left serial number (A1 for Boston, B2 for New York, etc... same letters in last post with the number corresponding to the letter's position in the alphabet) $1 and $2 bills still have the classic letter within a black seal; the bank's name is printed in the circle's border.
