Great example of why modern coins with low pops are terrible investments.

I get all kinds of weird kinds of packing like one guy always puts the coin in a bottle cap.one guy always puts the penny in an 2 inch section of a ice pop tube he likes red. Acetone wash no big deal.

I have been fortunate. I don't buy expensive coins over the net. However, I did have a non-coin purchase that was horrible. I'm a white chocolate addict and I thought that I had bought some on ebay. When I got the package, the chocolate was soup. Needless to say, I gave a poor review to the seller. When I looked at the description, I found that, first, it was supposed to be white chocolate, but there was a caviat that regular chocolate could be substituted. It also said "No Returns" in very small letters. I'm a lot more careful now.

A couple weeks ago I was told by my letter carrier that I needed to go to the post office annex center to sign for a packet with some damage to the envelope. I recognized the seller's return address and of course, my own name and address on the approximately 6"x10" bubble wrap lined manila envelope. The end of the envelope had been taped over where apparently it had ripped a bit. The contents (62 assorted world coins) were just drifting around inside, loose. The man asked me what was the contents and I told him "Satang gao laeo" (old money). I was a bit amazed that the coins were not at least wrapped tightly in a plastic bag or something other than merely tossed in there loose. I am sure that anyone who handled that packet along the way could easily tell that it contained coins, and therefore was more susceptible to theft. I could not discern any extra damage to the coins, some of which were still a good solid AU58.

Don't totally give up, but bear in mind that folks are emboldened to behave poorly when that do not have to face you directly... It's a social disease widespread across the net. You see it here every day, with the verbal abuse of folks that ask a question and get the razz nonsense.

I just had a small ANACS soap bar slab mailed to me loose in a 12x17 bubble mailer...

I once got a 1oz AGE from an eBay seller in a plain envelope, or maybe it was a bubble mailer -- but it was sent first-class, with no insurance or tracking. I left positive FB, but messaged the guy to point out that he'd have no protection from a dishonest buyer who just said "not received". He thanked me.

I've seen that. I've received that, but with coins inside the make-shift cereal box "holder". Luckily, they were G-VF coins w/ relatively low value, so it wasn't a big deal to me.
