This shouldn't fool anyone, but it probably still will. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-s-vdb-lincoln-cent-wheat-penny-PCGS-MS64-RD/173975113758
Likewise, would you share the details as to how you've identified this as a fake S-VDB and fake holder?
I would like to see PCGS and NGC post photos of all the coins they grade along with their "verification" of the ID number when you search for cert verifications on their websites. In this case, the actual coin with that certification number would be clearly much different than the coin in question.
NGC does and has for all coins slabbed in the past ten years. They don't have images for the years before that. PCGS only has images for about the past 7 years and only for those coins that ordered trueviews or in the past few years were submitted under the secure shield tier. So PCGS has a tiny quantity of images as compare to NGC.
I've only bought a few coins in slabs, but they were NGC & the GSA CC Dollars. I wouldn't know that that coin was put in a fake slab. I have nothing to compare it with. Is "RD" used on the slabs? If so what does that mean?
They do, it's here: https://www.pcgs.com/cert Unfortunately, as Condor1 pointed out, not all have photos. Plus, the counterfeiters are smart enough to copy a cert number that's correct for the coin they're trying to peddle.
Thanks for that website, I see that putting in the numbers from his coin comes up with the same type coin, too bad no pictures. So if it's MS/RD does that mean that the coin retains it's original luster and not brownish looking?
