I'm sure it's damaged, but was sure the two cents you said were clips were the ones that didn't really have anything going on, too, so I won't let that stop me!
Overall, it would seem mint problems are much more subtle than other types of damages, and the incidents I'd expect to be the most abrasive to coins aren't. I'll spare you seeing a penny that has some tiny wormholes similar to those on the damaged clip penny, but not going all the way through. They weren't the part you considered to be "good," anyhow!
