Will a PCGS slab box holder fit other slabs?

You can also try to post on the for sale forum and see if anyone would want to send you a few of the boxes as long as you covered shipping.

The other option is eBay (it will usually be a bit cheaper when ordering more than one).

Funny.... I had thought about this recently but haven’t spent the time to research yet..... I have ziplock bags of slabbed coins in my safe. Probably 50/50 between the top two and a few oddballs. I been wanting to upgrade my storage.... Is there not anyone that has created a storage box that will accommodate either TPG slab? Maybe something with adjustable foam inserts perhaps? Heck back in the 1970’s I had a high tech two dollar console in my car that would hold either 8-track or cassette tapes. It shouldn’t be that difficult a concept I wouldn’t think.

Yeah there is. As I stated in previous posts in this thread -

    - different writing on the outside now, but still the same box.

    Thanks again.

I should add as a piece of trivia that one of my two college roommates is from Monroe City where this JPS company operates. If you would blink as you were passing through you might miss the place. I believe, though, that my roommate is a good deal older than the folks in this operation.

JP's has been around for almost ever it seems. I've personally been recommending them for over 20 years. So I wouldn't be all too sure about what you're saying regarding ages :)

    Shoe box. Free.
If you have to you can create cardboard lane dividers inside, and everything will fit perfectly.

Yup, they are. But also a bad idea. Ya see the cardboard is laden with sulfur.

He left MC in 1968, Doug; got his PhD in Kansas after undergrad in '72, then retired from U of Iowa just a few years ago. Never very far from home over the past 51 years, but...

I thought the slabs protected the coins.
I guess there's no point in slabbing them then.
Try the soy boy Birkenstock box, made from hemp.

Not from toning, protection in that regard is pretty much zilch.

Slabs are neither gas-proof nor liquid-proof. They provide mechanical protection but not chemical protection.

Whitman blue plastic boxes: Have top and bottom padding, which reduces rattling. Hold newer PCGS slabs so tightly that the last three slots on each end cannot be used. Putting newer PCGS slabs in other slots expands the sides a bit, which makes the lid fit so tightly that it is difficult to remove. Can put slabs diagonally with a one slot offset, but then you give up one slot and it looks weird. Hold NGC slabs very tightly in the end slots and firmly in the others. Fins on the slots are too short to keep old green PCGS slabs from twisting out of position.

I've pretty much given up on plastic slab boxes. A universal plastic slab box could be made ... it's not rocket science ... but no one does it. I use Lighthouse boxes and 2.75" wide (2.5" internal) by 4" long red cardboard boxes. The shorter boxes are handy for transport and storing in more confined spaces. If the shorter boxes are used for long-term storage, put slabs in sealed baggies.
