2009 pennies

Why did the mint decide to not put the dots in between e pluribus unum on three of the four coins.? Thanks for any help, I appreciate it.

I went on to eBay because I had a 2009 coin that didn't have the dots. And on the pictures in eBay there are several auctions that show all four coins and three of the coins don't have the dots. The one they called the early years has the dots.

 

interesting maybe that's the difference between business strike & satin finish ?

 

I see 3 without in my Denver mint set

That I couldn't tell you I'll know business strike and satin finish. I don't collect them at all so maybe somebody else knows.

Interesting observation. I never noticed. I guess it was decided to be done for the 2009 series. The current shield Cent also has no dots.
