Knowledge of The little details.- like what @John Anthony and @seth77 make these coins even more interesting and serve as examples of how knowledge makes this hobby all the more interesting and rewarding.

    Cool coins everyone!

I'm missing the Licinius II from the set and most of mine could use serious upgrading but the Eros series is on my list.

The mint of Rome has very interesting types from this 320-321 period, before regular VOT in wreath and PROVIDENTIAE AVGG campgates became the norm.
Almost 2 years ago, Mr. Ramskold announced that he was working at a magnum opus of Rome bronzes covered by RIC 143-224, that should be the largest and most comprehensive one of bronzes ever attempted, trying to piece together a more exact chronology of the sub-issues by studying the die matches.
One of the coins studied is this:

    col1_html_5fcad4f3.jpg

    CRISPUS AE3 18mm 2.21g Follis/Nummus (aVF/F)

AV: CR - ISPVS NOB CAES; laureate draped cuirassed spear forward in right arm shield in left arm bust l.

REV: VOT X / ET XV F / RT inside wreath.

    EXE: -

REF: RIC - unrecorded, this coin should be between RIC VII Rome 207 and 208, w/ a G8 bust. Very rare, just one other known from officina Q and one from officina T, 320AD.

Coin is also listed on Lech Stepniewski's NOT IN RIC: http://notinric.lechstepniewski.info/7rom-207_cri_t.html

I picked up another one in an eBay auction to check another emperor off the list. This one was identified as Jovian from Siscia but the seller mentioned that it could be from Sirmium because the exergue is unclear. Any thoughts from those more experienced with LRBs?

    $_57.JPG

    Here is the seller's ID:
Jovian A.D. 363- 364. 20mm 3.6gm. DN IOVIA-NVS PF AVG; pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right/VOT V MVLT X surrounded by wreath. In ex. BSISC RIC VIII Siscia 426
possibly from Sirmium, but the exergue is not very clear.

Although the fourth letter is unclear, I definitely read C as the fifth, so I think Siscia 426 is correct: BSISC.

Late Roman bronzes can be as nice as any other Roman coins. The first time I was introduced to the world of ancient coins was through a friend that had a few late empire bronzes. They were a beauty.

Yes, some late Roman coins can be very crude and boring, but hidden in between are quite a few with interesting portraits and awesome reverse designs. And from what I hear, they can be had quite cheap...I should know, because I just bought one of them today from John Anthony. :)

Nice! Here are a couple in my collection.

    Constantine I VOT XX Centenionalis.jpg
    Constantine I, AD 307-337
    Roman Æ Centenionalis; 2.59 g, 18.4 mm
    Aquileia, AD 321

Rev: D N CONSTANTINI MAX AVG, laurel wreath around VOT XX; ·AQ · below.
    Refs: RIC vii, p. 404, no. 85; RCV 16216; Cohen 123.
Note: the officina mark, which should follow the AQ of the Aquileia mintmark, is absent, likely due to a filled die.

    Crispus:

    Crispus Centenionalis Siscia.jpg
    Crispus, AD 316-326.
    Roman AE centenionalis, 2.93 g, 18.2 mm, 6 h.

Rev: CAESARVM NOSTRORVM around wreath enclosing VOT X; ЄSIS* in exergue.

Many nice VOTA coins have been shown. I have a site on VOTA coins:

    http://augustuscoins.com/ed/VOTA/

with several sub-pages including one on VOT V coins:

    http://augustuscoins.com/ed/VOTA/V.html

    CrispusVOTVST.jpg
    Crispus
    20 mm.
VOT/V in wreath. DOMINORVM NOSTRORVM CAESS ("our lords Caesars") around.
    ST in exergue
RIC Ticinum 150 "r4 [but many varieties], 320-321".

That page includes vota coins of Thessalonica like this one:

    Constantine2VOTVMVLTXCAESS.jpg
    Constantine II, 317-337-340
    19 mm. 3.32 grams
    VOT•V
    MVLT•X
    CAESS
    TS•B in wreath
RIC VII Thessalonica 45 "r1 [only one officina, but other obverse legends], 320"
    Struck 318-319

There are also pages with the VOT XV types of Constantine and many others.
