This bronze coin of Trajan had been struck in Rome for the Eastern part of the Roman Empire, probably Syria. It has large SC within oak wreath surrounded by legend " DAC PARTHICO " on reverse. It's listed as Semis, Dupondius, As, Orichalcum and more. They say it's an "enigmatic issue". I was astonished at the high values they assign to this coin, so long time ago. Attribution extends from RIC 644 to RIC 650. I don't know where my coin belongs. It weighs 8.5 g. Thanks..

I've been researching wreaths all week, so I'm quite tickled to see the second century examples posted here. Superb coins everyone!
One of each size. My as (top) and the beautiful semis posted by PeteB show the wreath tie offset to the left (under the S). Significant??? The ring at the top of the wreath on my as is similarly offset to the right (over the C). I assume this is just variation caused by each die being an individual work but we can dream of a hidden code that will be explained in the centuries to come. How many die cutters worked on these? Were the coins struck at Rome or were the dies Roman and shipped east for use in a mint there? There is plenty left for future investigators.
