So last night I responded to a thread and showed this Diobol of Vespasian. It is a Dattari plate coin. I finally looked it up on RPC online and there were 8 examples. One of the examples had the following note "D382?". I assumed that this referred to the Dattari coin I have in my possession. I contacted Dr. Chris Howgego at Oxford and sent him the provenance information and a new photo. This morning I heard from Dr. Andrew Burnett. Dr Howgego had forwarded my email to him. He made the changes to RPC online so now my coin is on RPC! I took a screen shot of the page on RPC. Please post your coins that are listed on RPC. Egypt, Alexandria. Dattari. Vespasian, 69-79 Diobol circa 70-71 (year 3), Æ ( 26.5mm., 9.15g.) Obv: Laureate head r. Rev. Bust of Isis r.; in front, LΓ. RPC 2430 (this coin cited). Dattari-Savio Pl. 14, 382 (this coin). As a dealer I've owned many many coins which ultimately ended up as entries, used as illustrations, or were unique specimens. But I no longer own any of them.
I have one: http://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/3/2825 I have several unpublished coins in my collection. I attempted to submit them to RPC but they wanted a photo I had taken myself. With any luck when I figure out how to shoot good images I'll have a few more.
Super cool coin, Shanxi! Do you "count" it only if it is a unique coin or the first specimen illustrated, or are you counting any coin listed among a given type? Either way, I think I have several, but I haven't been diligent about keeping track of them like I would for a print resource and "rpc" is too short a term for me to find them by searching on CT .
If your specific coin is listed then I think it counts. However, feel free to post more of your great coins anytime.
Thanks for posting this, Orfew. While I use the RPC site often and really appreciate the work that has gone into putting the resource up online, I've never specially checked how many of my coins are included in their database. I just spent some time cross referencing my spreadsheet with the site and found a few more in addition to the ones I already knew were in there. There are probably at least a couple more cited but not pictured, but here are the screen grabs of the ones I did find.
