I see this as a double edged sword. I feel it's important to correct false information but that seems to bring more false information and the OP is getting what he wants. If we just ignore the false information it stands and others might believe it. I don't see a clear way to fix this.
I hear that but I can't understand and I'm not sure I want to, why the op thinks there are 1981-D coins in circulation with Zinc exposed from testing.
It’s called madness, there is no logic to figure out. Just ramblings. I actually feel bad for the guy. I hope he gets the help he needs.
Which brings to question the moderation standards on CT. The Mustache Dude made it clear that this guy has done nothing wrong and shouldn't be moderated. I generally support this stance, but what about extreme cases like this where Bob's Tavern Arm/Robert Lahti floods the forum with misinformation? I feel that it's important to provide accurate info to new collectors so they can learn and grow and I think other members feel the same way. Nonsense like this does nothing more than confuse a newbie. As I see more and more of this deluge of misinformation inundate CT, it gets harder to keep up with posting true, accurate info. At some point, I fear that experienced members are going to get fed up and move elsewhere, leaving CT to become a wasteland of YouTube-like junk. I hope the moderators will take a serious look at issues like this. While I believe the moderation policy has made CT a great forum (try saying something controversial on a TPG hosted site), I believe some thought should be given towards addressing members like this. I know it's not an easy task for the mods, however IMO, the inflexibility of the rules is going to hurt this site.
You must be checking "Robert Lahti" where I think everyone also remembers "Robert S. Lahti". Which seems to be one of the same. But, if you search around .... you'll find more than 2 posts for both. for instance, here's 2 posts over 2 days - July 12-13, 2018 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/2018-brand-new-michigan-pictured-rocks.319216/ another post from July 31, 2018 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/san-francisco-mint-2018-silver-reverse-proof-set.320392/page-9 a thread of his from May 29, 2018 https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1974s-lincoln-wrong-tie-proof.317245/#post-3093417 and there's plenty more, I just want to show that he was around here for more than 1 day, and had more (much more) than 2 posts and 2 identities. of course, as mentioned, there was "Robert Lahti" and "Robert S. Lahti"
I already nicely shared your information with the moderators yesterday. They now know of the situation of who he is.
If any member has a commercial internet security system, they have probably been offered VPN service either free, partially free, or full time if paid. VPN is to protect ones privacy so the receiving site or person can only see an anonymous stream of encoded data. This was once only military/extreme hacker available and now is common. I use it for all connections involving passwords and/or monetary exchange, but do not use it on trusted boards such as CT. If someone uses it for CT, it is beyond my moderation to tell if it is a known member. Doug has more options. But most cheaters do not share photos and other identifying characteristics. If we were military intelligence, they would never be able to sign in twice, but to my knowledge, we are not. We do the best we can, but it does take time and we wish to be sure of our suspicions, we can not react as fast as most people want. We can not just go on your suspicions it is so-and-so again. If you read the journal 2600, you know what the title means. Read it ( Barnes and Nobles) and you know there is little privacy in the internet world and some under-21 know as much coding as many country's military intelligence. We do the best we can for you, but sometimes the remarks from decent members hurt if they think they "know for certain" and we don't do anything based on that feeling, when we have to have more than that. Thanks for reading , Jim
The 1981 copper plated zink coins are very interesting!!! When i ponder the prospect of delectable chances to gain authority in numismatic circuits experts and newbs agree!! I've found 1981 zincs to be quite common and yes they all weigh 2.8-3.3 grams. Scratch tests conclude saltwash was inevitable for continuity of zinc reproduction. All this was easily confirmed by taste. To conclude scratch test is unnecessary in determining zinc test flans for 1981 and 1980. The contol method for continuity in pre 82 zinc test flans is licking them. The saltwash has had many decades to leech. Dont get me started on all the test flans of 1943
He is no longer able to participate on the site. Try to call up his profile. That’s what it says in case of being banned or suspended.
? I see the usual info -- number of posts (which links to a list of posts), number of likes, last-seen (Thursday), and so on. That IS what profiles look like for banned or suspended accounts, but it's also what active accounts look like, right? He's never gone this long without posting, so I'm guessing he's at least getting a vacation. But given the evidence that this was a second account, I imagine it's shut down for good. Of course, policy dictates that there'll never be a public announcement to that effect, but we can hope for the best.
