sorry when i first set up my micro cam i couldnt get it to focus far enough away to get a full pic .... the stand it came with is weak so i made something to hold it just for close ups .... ill grab it soon and work on getting a better system to take full pics .... whats ur initial thoughts on it?
overheated zinc is my initial thought. dryer coin, definitely pmd. but I wanted to see the whole coin. the edge is certainly missing a lot.
What a cool looking coin never seen anything like it.Looks like a bunch of worms and then parts look like the way sand is blown away in the wind very weird looking coin.
interesting ... part of the coin is not effected at all ... and whats the cool little thing showing on the obverse just below the C E in cent
The thing that amazes me is liberty is stamped into the coin how did it do that. I would find an expert like the one that has over 3000 certified die mistakes for over 35 years.Where are you Paddyman98 he is the expert in this field.
thanks its 1 of my favorites even though everyone says PMD ive tried with brushes dermal tools heat all kinds of tools to see how this was done ...
I agree with Oldhoopster. Bench mounted wire wheel will cause this effect. Not an error coin. Not very likely to find a Struck Through anything on both sides of one coin.
As the others have said, your coin was damaged by something. Here is an example of an actual strike through that I found CRH'ing. This half dollar was struck through a piece of cloth.
If you mean that LIBERTY appears to be recessed, it is not. That is the problem you often see when one of the USB microscopes is used to take photos. The close-up images are so enlarged that you can't tell if it is raised or recessed. Chris
You never will get it to focus properly for full coin images. That is the biggest problem you face with most USB microscope/camera systems. You should really use an ordinary camera for full coin shots. Stay away from digital cameras. Enlargements become too pixelated. Chris
