\I took a couple hundred dollars of quarters and halves to the bank today and ran them through the coin counter. Once done I emptied the rejects tray and threw them in my box and cashed out. An hour ago I looked and saw a 1943 penny in the box. I pulled it out and saw it appears to have grease on it. I got a paper towel and started to clean it up and saw a crack. I stopped cleaning it and put it under my magnifier. I was surprised to see LOTS OF CRACKS. More cracks than a proctologist sees in a week. Obverse and reverse. Please give me your opinions of it and what I should do with it.
Looks like it's worth 1¢, minimum. Sorry, I couldn't help myself! Do you think it's a real zinc coin?
I think your coin had some issues when it was being replated. Die crack are usual very thin and hair-like raised lines.
Look it up in your copy of "A Guide Book of United States Coins". If someone hasn't already recommended that you purchase a copy, surely you've seen it recommended to others. All of that info is in there plus a lot more. Best $10-$15 you'll ever spend on the hobby
