I have looked at this coin again and again. It's a strike through grease, nah it couldn't be! I can see all the lines/grainloop going from top right to bottom left. There cant be a machine or tool to scrape off the very top layer, leaving the directional scrapes could there? I dont drink, so it cant be that. Lol Let me know what you think, you guys are good at that. Thanks Foo
Your photos make it hard to tell, but a struck through (grease) should not expose the metal under the copper coating, simply make it look pushed down. Because yours shows underlying metal exposed, I'm thinking it's been whizzed or filed/buffed with a tool (and yes, you can do most anything with tools, to include scraping off the top layer of a coin). https://www.error-ref.com/struck-through-smooth-viscous-material-grease-oil/
Try to take more detailed pics or at least try to focus them. Its hard to tell what you have if the pics are blurry..
Will do. Thank you. My phone doesn't focus very well up really close, and you should see me trying to hold my loupe up against the lens on my phone. It's probably pretty histericle, historical,,,, it's pretty funny. Later, Foo
This is a struck through grease or debris. It is impossible to remove this much surface metal without seeing the exposed Zinc.
So what do you think guys,,,,,, if I'm going to stay in this game, I'm going to have.too look into an iPhone or just a regular digital camera. The iPhone is expensive but convenient, the digital camera is reasonable ( as of lately), but now I'll have 2 tools to deal with and alot of file(pic) uploading and such. Please give any thoughts you long timers(didnt say old lol) might have. I'm sure this subject has been tossed around the water cooler. Thanks, Foo
Thanks Mt Man. I've had a.couple good days lately. LONG days but worth it. I also found that 1966 cent that is missing the middle section of steps on the Lincoln Memorial. Pretty cool. Hope ya'll had a good day as well. Later,,,,, Foo
