Good morning folks. Getting ready to send this beautiful 66 cent in but I noticed the middle steps going up to Abes house are missing. Is this normal or should I complain to the contractor for not finishing the job? The steps above and and below are ok. I looked at a couple different sites for reference, but didnt find anything. Has anyone else come across this phenomenon? I have front and back of 66 cent and the 66 reverse showing missing steps, and also included a 61 showing all steps to compare
Nice looking coin. The images are a bit out of focus but I'm thinking a worn die caused the look of the steps. You need it to grade MS67 or better to cover the grading cost.
Photos are a bit blurry but it looks nice. A worn die or grease could have caused this. Not worth grading.
Appears polished. Need better photos. The holder just says uncirc, 1966. Even if this were a low grade MS coin, it's worth around 1 cent. There are millions of these 1960's cents in premium condition.
Was putting together next set of coins to be shipped to PCGS. This beautiful 1966 cent was taken out of a mint set, and according to the new PCGS Market Report the Top Pop is a MS64. I'm not thinking this is my golden ticket, I never ask what the coin is worth any other time. This only started out with a question about the missing set of steps. I'd hope that either PCGS or NGC would see this as better than an MS64. I had another whole message typed out, but didnt save it as a draft before it disappeared. I really need some sleep. These bars and screws in my back really make it difficult to sleep sometimes. I hope what I replied here didnt come across as threatening or hostile. I'm still trying to learn by asking questions. I try to not let my ignorance show through, I guess it just comes out naturally. Lol Thanks guys,,,,, Foo
You might want to check on this coin again. If it came from a mint set it had to come from an SMS set. I'm seeing the Top Pop as a 69 and thousands of these graded over 64. As a regular strike coin, I'm seeing 14 coins as the Top Pop graded as 67.
Something looks wrong. While it is very shiny and lustrous on the obverse, Lincoln looks very smooth with very little sharp details and lines. It's just like a lump in the center. Here is just a regular 1966 I took out of circulation for comparison. Where are the strong details in the hair, beard, profile and jacket on the OP's coin? Not to mention the missing details on the reverse.
No problem. I will leave no stone unturned. I dont mind doing all the investigating. That's where we learn alot, kind of under pressure. I've never looked for the get rich quick schemes. If I cant work for it and earn it, then I'd rather not have it. I'll check out everything that has been brought up here, and if you think of anything else please dont hesitate to message me up. I was referencing the PCGS guide, what were you looking in @ldhair ? If you dont mind. We are VERY limited here as to just going in to any LCS and talking to an expert. I guess when they describe Central Pa, and say its laid back,,,, they really mean its Lllaaaaaiidddddd back here. Lol Ok, keep the information coming guys. I appreciate it. Thanks , Foo
That would just figure that we finally came across some coins that just look like they were taken care of. Purchased and put away. I'm not going fo jump the gun in either direction, but I surely hope this isnt a coin that some underhanded scoundrel thought up and Doctored. I'm sure it happens all the time. BUT,,,,, lol, no matter what the.coin turns out to be , I do love that it IS missing those middle steps and that I found it. That's cool any way you look at it.
Yea I LOVE checkin stuff out on the Coin Facts site. That is definately a great site to have in your favorites column.
