Anything wrong with these 25 cent pieces? 1985P 1974 1980 D

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Sasha D Marshburn, Jul 10, 2019.

  1. There are a few smashed letters on the 1974 that I can see plus the A's are almost completely filled in and one A is actually completely filled in. The "IN" in "IN GOD WE TRUST" Is actually fused together. There are some funny lines on the L and I in LIBERTY. There is just a whole lot going on with the 1974 quarter. Around the edge to the right of Washington's head, there is a little gap between the edge. On the1980 P Quarter, the color is very bland. Very little shiny. On the 1985P quarter, the T and Y are close to being flat like the planchet itself is. I know there is a mark above the T but I do not believe this has anything to do with it. The L, I, R, T, and Y in LIBERTY are messed up. The IN in "IN GOD WE TRUST, and the T in trust are also messed up and maybe most of the lettering on the back looks odd to me too... tell me what y'all (yes I'm a hillbilly, I live in East Tennessee. ) think please.

It's OK... I too am a hillbilly. And FYI, @paddyman98 loves it when we use "y'all" as much as we can when we post. Hillbilly's can love coins too...... And Paddy is 100% correct. We never know what circumstances all these coins find themselves in during the course of their lives. After a number of years they can present themselves in all sorts of unusual ways. About 99.9% of what you will see when you look at a coin was caused by something it was subjected to after it left the mint.

  9. Very insightful, I'm kinda learning. I still have yet to find anything interesting, or to find anything at all for that matter, haha. I use to play the lotto a lot when I drove a semi, I actually had better luck at that, than I'm having with hunting for coins. Going from state to state and scratching tickets, or running the numbers that played previous to the upcoming numbers for that area (writting previously played numbers down, its like a tick tack toe board, hard to explain) .

  10. Thank you

So what got you interested in looking at coins? And are you still driving that semi? Don't stop looking for coins just because you have better luck at lotto!

  15. Why is there a messed up spot running through the words on top making them look twisted

  18. Worth anything

  19. I got interested in looking for/ at coins bc it gives me something better to give my attention to instead of giving it to someone like the guy I stay with, that only wants to do harm, wreak havoc in my life.
