I just got this coin from Malta, an interesting story in itself. It is struck to matte format, and I have not seen another in 40 years here. To some degree this supports the thesis that the FM did indeed strike coins for circulation and they were released to the Central Bank. Now if only to find a worn specimen...

I looked it up in my 2019 Krause. KM#29b, matte finish mintage-300, proofs mintage-26,000. that's a low mintage-300. MS-63-$40.00 MS-65-$45.00 are the these values way lower than the actual market value ??? Nice find for sure.

Hard to say what the market is as there apparently is too small a supply to determine. If you can find one, you may find it at that price but that is a tough one.I think one thing that helps is that it is of the same design as those struck by the Royal mint.
Fun finding these little bits over time; very little out there besides bullion and outrageous coins like that 1938 S Mercury going for 364,000 USD!
    Thanks .
