Damage, rim cud, or both?

There appears to be a rim cud, but the edge also looks damaged and there is a bulge on the obverse at that point. Could there be corrosion of the copper, from the damage, that caused the bulge?

The area that you call a 'rim cud' is
metal pushed onto the surface, from
the edge - see the flattened area on
the edge? It's damaged on both sides,
    in that area.

That's the metal pushed onto the reverse.
