I think it happens to some collectors, when they eventually upgrade. My first double struck state quarter was special to me. Gave me much joy. Now that I added triple and multi strucks, my D/S is just one in my collection.

95% of my Mint and Proof sets I bought when I was a kid back in the 70's. I thought they would be a good investment, wrong! Can't give half of them away today!

there was alot of week struck coins I the 60s &70s some of your higher grade ones could be worth a little more than u think,

 

A D/S SQ? They stopped punching the mintmark by hand ten or more years before the SQ's were introduced.
