1886 Trade Dollar ? ? ?

  1. Did the U.S. mint have any plans to make a 1886 trade dollar? Are rumors about the 1886 trade dollar fact, fiction, or just plan BS?

There weren't officially plans to make the 1884 or 85 proofs, as they were off the books and not even known until the early 20th century. I don't know what rumors exist about 1886-dated pieces. There are no real ones, nor were there plans to make them.

Doubtful. Recall that the 1879-1885 coins were only made in proof format anyhow, suggesting that demand for the coins wasn't really there.
