Heck no ! If I said "Sure, I'm done !", I know I would get a beatdown. :hammer: Tell ya what... that Cohen 1/2c book is a killer. Smallest denomination, biggest $$$ for book. Still shoppin'.
Do you have the Breen half cent encylopedia yet? If not I would recommend it over the Cohen book. Much more information excellent plates, die state information that is not found in Cohen, and it is probably cheaper. (Took a quick look around, Breen can be had for $55 - $75, Cohen is $85 - $95.) One disadvantage is that Breen is considerably heavier. And as time passes you will find that the books you want keep being more expensive. I have five books on my wantlist at the moment and they will cost me just over $500. (Three of them are "cheap" at just $65 each. One of them is $195.) One book I use to death is my copy of Dalton & Hamer. $200 a copy, I'm on my third copy.
I have looked and looked then I looked again at the reverse wondering if it could possibly be a restrike with a clash going thru the top of E ...no expert here.. very nice good IMHO.
Wow, grades were really all over the place on this coin.... PCGS graded the coin G6. My subjective opinoins on the coin: Personally, I'd grade the coin G4. The obverse rim bump and reverse digs detract from the coin, but don't bother me much at this grade/price level, and they are clearly made long ago. Coins of this date, although it is the key date for Matron Head large cents are still not rare, but they are tough to find even this problem free. Most are very dark and corroded and have other problems, and even with these problems the coin is well above average. Anyway, thanks for all the guesses and comments. I appreciate it. Have fun...Mike
That's a fair grade. In line with ANA. Seems like that's true of most Large Cents I see. It's really tough to find good ones.
It is true, but once you get into the 1830s finding nice coins becomes far easier. For some reason the dates 1822-1825 are the toughest, in my experience.
I didnt have time to post any of my reasons for saying VG. I really was just showing off my Sig. lol .. I at first wanted to say Good4 as the coin is rubbed mostly smouth but becuase you can still clearly see Liberty and as you can tell what it is with out question. I would grade it as hi as Verygood. But that is extreamly generous grade for the coin. IMHO Perhaps if there was Goob7 that qould be a better marking. As I feel this coin is better then just good but not by much.
