I bought a Lot of pre 65 "silver" quarters here locally for a steal of a price($20 for the lot)...I'm beginning to think that they may be fake. I tested the weight of some of them compared to my quarters that I know are real and they seem to be correct for the most part as far as weight. None of them stick to a magnet or have a clad-looking edge either. What concerns me is some of the anomalies on the coins, mostly having to due with the rim and small differences in small simple design factors. Overall they definitely look the part.....is there anyway to tell for sure if these are legit? Can you spot anything within the photos below that could be a determining factor? Any help is greatly appreciated
That's refreshing, what concerned me...for example...photo #2 the upside down 1932 on the top right. The rim doesnt look normal..it had me worried
Ok,thanks guys,I feel alot more comfortable with my purchase now. If anyone else has an opinion or concern just let me know and I will provide more photos.
I got them from an older gentleman here locally in TN. He posted some coin literature and stuff for sale...when I went to his home to look thru his items I came across these.. 1932 D x3 1932 S x2 1932 P x2 1936 P x2 1936 D x2 1936 S x4 1939 P x2 1939 D x3 1954 P x2 1954 S x2 1954 D x2 1964 D x2 1964 P x2
OK, now that shifts me back to "fake until proven otherwise". They might be legit, but I'd want to get them examined by someone with some experience.
You know,I just got off the phone with him,he said "Son,finding stuff like that is what you do it for..enjoy them,I have. I appreciate your honesty, that is worth it to me"......mic drop....
