    Dear all,

I am not sure what this is, other than that it is an oriental coin. Could be persian or indian/mughal bronze.
On one side there is a figure sitting, facing right, while the other side is a figure standing, facing left with arm stretched out.
Could anybody here suggest when and where it from (and possibly who issued it)?

I have had this coin for a long time. One of the first coins I ever purchased, many years ago. I recall getting it because 'hey cool, an oriental coin!'. The vendor did not know exactly what it was.
I had lost it at one point, and then I refound it recently, and I tried to find out online what it is, without luck.

    Thank you kindly,
    Alex

    Looks Kushan, maybe Huvishka.

I agree that it is Kushan and most likely Huvishka seated cross-legged with left arm raised (known type). Could be sun god, Mioro on other side. Weight should be around 10g. if a full unit (tetradrachm?).

    Thank you both! :)
I looked up Kushan Huvishka and it looks like that is it! http://coinindia.com/Huvishka-3252-m38.18.jpg
(I do not have a scale at hand. It is 26mm across at the widest points)

    Wishing you a nice weekend,
    Best,
    Alex

That Kushan(?) coin leaves a lot to the imagination.

Could you tell me what you mean by that?
Do you mean the overall quality- in the sense that it is very worn and there is little detail left on it?
I am fine with that. I bought it in Stockholm in an antique store many years ago for around 50 kr (around 6 euros/bucks) without thinking about it in terms of an investment, but more as a souvenir.

Or do you mean something more ominous (wondering if its genuine)?

Alex Filip. Rather worn. But to me Stockholm is a plus - place of my birth ! But shouldn't a souvenir of Stockholm mean something more connected with Stockholm or Sweden ???

Haha, you are right. I like to buy coins everywhere I go if I find an numismatics or antique store. That way, I have some coins from every trip, everywhere I have been to or everywhere I lived.
That day I bought half a dozen coins(all of them Swedish, 19th and 20th century, silver crown, 1/4 skilling, etc) but I also got this one because... why not. The vendor was not sure what it was (an antiques store on the edge of the Gamla Stan island) but it was cheap enough.

Well, Alex Filip, If you also bought six Swedish coins then you deserve to be off the hook !!!
