Here in California you are requited to explain the meaning behind your plate before they will issue it.

I had the vanity plate "EID MAR" for a while but currently don't have/need a car (the benefits of city living) so I'll have to live vicariously through all of yours!

While you had it did you ever get any comments? I mean, did anyone ever 'get it'?

Completely irrelevant to the subject of coins, but relevant to vanity license plates, I have to relate the story of the best vanity license plate I've ever seen.

About 30 years ago I was driving north to San Francisco on highway 280 ("The most beautiful freeway in the world"). I was passed by a brand new, bright red Mercedes 450 SL with the top down, driven by an absolutely stunning 20-something blonde. The license plate read:

    O2BKEPT

The state itself messes up from time to time. I remember probably a decade ago a family member got a new plate with random assigned numbers/letters in the mail and the last letters were JEW. A few weeks later he was informed that it was being recalled and he had to swap it. Apparently the state got a bunch of calls from people who received plates stating they were not Jewish and didn't want the plates, or concerned that it might single them out as victims for a hate crime.

I am a Ramblin Wreck. When I attended school 4 decades ago, the T was often borrowed from the admin building. Fans in the football stadium saw ECH. Usually the T was returned late in the season.

I'm going to have to get a novelty plate next time my plate is up for renewal in 2020. You guys convinced me.

I'm thinking something like "AVG" or "CAES", or maybe after the goddess Juno herself with "MONETA". "SALUS" could be a nice touch too. I don't know...I have time to think it through.

My favorite belonged to a young man who was impatient with slow drivers ahead of him in rush hour traffic. It read TI VUUM. When the car ahead of him looked in the rear view mirror they saw MUUV IT.

Alas, no. Even some coin friends didn't notice it until I pointed it out.
