Yes, send it in to get graded, because nobody in their rite mind would purchase that without authentication.
Have you weighed it? It is a bit hard to tell from your pictures, but I am assuming it has a copper color. My first guess would be that it is plated. Highly unlikely that it is a legit copper 43.
should a metal test b done first, then graded or can the grading company do everything. It does stick to a magnet except only on the outer edge,it wont pick it up from the center on either side.
Anacs is less expensive, and qualified, check their website for instructions. if its fake or plated they will not slab it, but you still have to pay for their service.
Where did you find this. If out of CRH, its a bit too shiny to be legit. Meow has not ever found a penny 1940s or older in ms while CRH. That has got to be fake.
The reason the magnet only sticks the edge is that the edge was exposed steel so only the copper layer there, but the rest of the coin has a zinc layer ( the edge does not ) and then a copper layer over that so thicker. What ever you do now is probably a waste of money, but you can put it away and wait a few years until instrumentation gets better and testing cheaper. Jim
A true copper Cent would weigh 3.11 grams A Steel Cent weighs 2.8 grams you definitely have a Copper plated Steel Cent. End of story.
