I have recently came into possession of a coin and am curious as to what it is/says. Ive tried looking for it on the internet but have been met with dead ends. Any help would be appreciated.
It´s a sestertius struck by emperor Hadrian. Reverse shows Felicitas standing and the legend "PONT MAX TR POT COS III".
The photo shows characteristics that would make me want to see the coin in person before being certain of it being genuine or not. You might start by searching the online databases for fakes just to be sure it is not there.
If you are new to Ancients coin collecting, try first to look for a match to you coins at www.wildwinds.com . You will find a similar coin under RIC 563a. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/hadrian/t.html. And be sure to check the fake databases like Doug suggested.
Thanks for the replies guys. Ill start to look through the links. Any other info would be appreciated. I'm new to coin collecting, and hooked. This wont be my last Roman coin.
