This is a coin which i am considering buying, and i would like to hear your opinions on. I own only very few US gold coins, and i want to expand a bit. This 5 $ piece from the Dahlonega mint seems very appealing, also historically.
Please let me know your opinions.
(I hope these pics are good enough)
    Thanks,
    Eduard

Any coin from the Dahlonega (or Charlotte) mint I won't consider unless it's slabbed.
Or you have it in hand and are competent enough to determine if it's genuine.

I'd only consider a slabbed piece.

    I agree with K and T above.

Expensive coins should be authenticated by an expert - either top TPG or one's self (if TRULY knowledgeable and experienced).

I see nothing about this one that screams "forgery !", but it does seem dull and lusterless.

Yes, Dahlonega stuff is interesting stuff.

By ANA standards, I would call this F-12 (reverse is a little better).

I would grade it a f-15+. There does however appear to be some environmental damage around 9 ocklock on the rim.
