    Randy's right. The red stuff is residue from glue, paint, wax . . . something. Everything else is just damage. Significant damage.

    When young, I always used my mom's red nail polish to paint coins and badly scratched up matchbox cars. I'm sure I have an example too ....

    I vote for finger nail polish and would soak it in acetone, but why bother, it's just a damaged cent.
